About me

Georgi Dimitrov joined the European Commission in 2008 and was involved in setting up the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and managing HEInnovate, an initiative by the European Commission and the OECD that supports entrepreneurial and innovative universities. Following a stint as as a policy advisor to senior management, in 2017 Georgi assumed the role of Deputy Head of Unit “Innovation and EIT” in DG EAC where he was responsible for the EIT and its strategic innovation agenda 2021-2027; the first Digital Education Action Plan; including business-university cooperation. In January 2021 he assumed the leadership of the newly created unit for Digital Education. Before joining the Commission, Georgi worked for a leading multinational telecommunication company in Germany. Prior to that, he worked in a software development company for four years in Germany. Georgi studied at the University of Bonn (MA), the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg (PhD) and the Open University UK (MBA).
