About me

Niels Pinkwart studied computer science and mathematics at the University of Duisburg from 1995 to 1999. He received his doctorate there in 2005 with a dissertation on collaborative modelling systems in educational contexts. After a postdoctoral position at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, he accepted calls for a junior professorship and subsequently for a regular professorship at Clausthal University of Technology. Since 2013, he has been working at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where he holds the chair of “Didactics of Computer Science / Computer Science and Society”. He has been Vice President for Studies and Teaching at HU Berlin since October 2021. In addition to his work at HU Berlin, Prof. Pinkwart is active as the scientific director of the Educational Technology Lab at DFKI Berlin and is a member of the steering committee of the educational technologies section within the Gesellschaft für Informatik. He has a scientific track record of more than 200 publications, has given keynotes at numerous events in the field of educational technologies and is currently Associate Editor of the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education.
