The Call for Ideas You Can Touch and Experience
What does the future sound like? What does it feel like? What colours, shapes, and movements do we see when we challenge established practices in education?
In 2027, we once again want to do more than just discuss the future at the University:Future Festival – Strong Enough; we want to make it tangible. To achieve this, we are opening the Experience:Space at our on-site stages in Berlin and Braunschweig: a place full of surprises where visions can unfold beyond the boundaries of traditional stage presentations and workshop formats.
The Motto: Strong Enough
What makes higher education institutions and higher education strong enough to actively shape the future? Higher education institutions are a vital part of a free and open society. They generate knowledge and skills, assess them and disseminate them, so that they can serve as a foundation for social innovation and understanding. At the same time, societal, technological, political, and economic developments present new challenges for universities and colleges. As a result, expectations regarding higher education, its role, its formats, and its impact are evolving. “Strong Enough” is both a statement and a question: higher education institutions have the potential to shape the future, but are they able to fully realize that potential?
What we are looking for
We are looking for innovative, surprising, and creative hands-on experiences that invite participants to explore, interact, and experiment. Contributions should inspire curiosity, spark joy, and bring both the festival theme and the digital transformation of higher education to life.
Whether it is robots, dancing paintings, HoloLens applications, creative brainstorming formats, or singing carpets, we are excited to see how you make the future tangible!
Who we are looking for
We are looking for anyone eager to offer hands-on inspiration: from robotics engineers to VR world-builders, from visual artists to activists, from researchers pushing the boundaries of knowledge to students with a wild idea.
Implementation
All selected contributions will be showcased on-site in the Experience:Space. In addition to the Berlin stage, participants can choose to present their contribution at one of our partner stages in Brunswick as part of U:FF 2027.
The following conditions apply at all locations: We provide the space, electricity, furniture, and internet access. Exhibitors are responsible for bringing their idea, all materials required for its implementation, and for managing the setup and operation on-site.
Anything is possible, as long as it aligns with the festival and this year’s theme and can be implemented within the available technical and logistical framework.
Call procedure
The Call for Arts & Experience at the University:Future Festival 2027 is open until 10 January 2027. Following the submission deadline, our jury will select the contributions to be realized at the festival. The organizing team will then review the selected submissions for feasibility and curate the Experience:Space accordingly. You will be notified by mid-February whether your contribution has been selected and, if so, at which location it will be presented.
