The University:Future Festival is a cooperation of Hochschulforum Digitalisierung, Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre and Stifterverband.

The Hochschulforum Digitalisierung orchestrates the discourse on higher education in the digital age. As a central initiator, we inform, advise and network with members of universities, policy makers, business representatives and society. The Hochschulforum Digitalisierung was founded in 2014. It is a joint initiative of the Donors’ Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany (Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft), the CHE Center for Higher Education Development and the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK). It is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
Since 2021, the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre aims to enable innovation in teaching and learning at universities and to strengthen the renewal capacity of university teaching overall and on an ongoing basis. The foundation supports suitable projects that are anchored at individual universities or implemented in a network. In addition, it creates networking opportunities for the actors. It also supports the exchange of project results, successes and challenges and makes shared knowledge available. All funds for this scientific institution will be provided by the federal and state governments.
The Stifterverband brings together committed individuals, companies and organisations with the aim of effecting meaningful and targeted change in the education and research system. In doing so, it helps to strengthen society’s capacity for innovation. As a central source of impetus, it analyses the education and research system, identifies areas requiring action, and stimulates debate. It also supports innovative projects, scales them up, connects stakeholders, and works alongside decision-makers to drive forward sustainable change and reforms. The Stifterverband supports U:FF with funding from the social lottery “Traumhausverlosung”.

At the Technical University of Braunschweig, the institution embodies its identity as a cosmopolitan research university that attracts students and researchers from many different countries. Here, technical innovations and social progress are always conceived with people in mind. What are the social implications of teaching and research? And, conversely, what impetus can society provide for teaching and research? To this end, TU Braunschweig combines expertise in engineering and the natural sciences with that of the economic, social, humanities and educational sciences to develop sustainable solutions to the global challenges of today and tomorrow. The event is organised by the Emerging Tech Lab at TU Braunschweig’s Project House. The Emerging Tech Lab is a collaborative project within the framework of the Lower Saxony Digital Teaching Hub, involving the Technical University of Braunschweig, Leuphana University of Lüneburg, the University of Hildesheim, Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | Georg Eckert Institute and the Stifterverband. Its aim is to systematically monitor and categorise new technological developments and to highlight their potential for study and teaching at universities.

Knowledge, technology, passion – for over 200 years, Graz University of Technology has been making its mark through its achievements in teaching and research. Around 13,700 students and some 3,900 staff members are carrying this innovative spirit and these visions forward into the future. Five key areas of expertise, partnerships with the scientific community and industry, and internationalisation define the profile of Graz University of Technology.
The vision of TU Graz Teaching and Learning Technologies is, on the one hand, to enhance face-to-face teaching with technology, thereby improving pedagogical diversity and the student experience, whilst also ensuring consistency through centralised service provision and management. On the other hand, the focus is on the target-group-oriented expansion of online teaching and the strengthening of open education in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4). In this way, Graz University of Technology combines tradition with innovation and creates a future-oriented learning environment for all.

The Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences (Ohm) Nuremberg is a university of applied sciences. With around 13,000 students, it is one of the largest of its kind in Germany. Ohm is a place of opportunity for research, teaching and lifelong learning: it explores the key issues facing our society and develops and implements ideas for the world of today and tomorrow. It plays a significant role in the Nuremberg metropolitan region and beyond. Modern teaching and learning methods, together with a wide range of practice-oriented degree programmes, open up excellent career prospects for students.

We are reimagining the university! Interdisciplinary, international and digital: this is the conceptual core of the Technical University of Nuremberg (UTN). The aim is to link engineering sciences with other areas of society. Furthermore, the newly founded university is committed to English-language teaching, digital learning methods and forward-looking research topics. In the medium term, the UTN campus is set to cover around 37 hectares, providing space for up to 6,000 students and bringing together learning, teaching and living in one place.
