Call for Volunteers – Session:Hosts 2026

Community involvement is a top priority at the University:Future Festival! That’s why we are looking for motivated SessionH:osts through our call for volunteers to digitally introduce our speakers and support them during the sessions.

What we are looking for

You will assist the speakers by providing implementation support to ensure that various digital formats such as inputs, training sessions, and workshops run smoothly (more information on the different formats can be found here). As a digital Session:Host, you will meet with the speakers in the virtual room 20 minutes before the start of the session to discuss where they need your help. The session begins with you introducing the speakers. After that, you can sit back, relax, and listen to the presentation. If any problems arise, you are the first point of contact. For this reason, it is important that you familiarise yourself with our platform in advance. But don’t worry, in-depth technical knowledge is not required, as we have a support team that is available at all times to help with technical issues. We will provide you with everything you need to know about the platform and the session process in advance in a detailed briefing and one-hour training session.

We are therefore looking for support for the technical accompaniment of the sessions. This is not a content-related moderation, but rather methodological support for the speakers.

Your tasks at a glance:

  • Introducing the speakers
  • Recording the session
  • Being the speaker’s “third hand”: providing support in the chat, with technical problems, or similar challenges during the event
  • No in-depth technical knowledge required

Effort:

We will plan your assignment based on the information you provide (see below). In addition to your support during the festival, you should allow approximately two hours for training on the platform and briefing.

Specific dates:

  • Briefing on 8 June 2026 from 10 am to 11 am and on 9 June 2026 from 3 pm to 4 pm (The briefings are identical; you only need to attend one)
  • Duties during the festival from 22 to 24 June 2026 in the time slots you have chosen.

Our thank you

In our experience, working as a Session:Host is exciting and educational. But of course, we want to thank you for your support:

  • You will be named on the website.
  • You will receive a certificate for your volunteer work at U:FF.
  • To make your commitment even more visible, you can submit the certificate to HFDcert – the HFD community certificate.
  • You will receive a small surprise : )

Are you interested in getting involved and working with us to make this year’s University:Future Festival an unforgettable experience for everyone involved? Then take part in our Call for Volunteers for the sixth U:FF! The call for volunteers runs from 20 April to 22 May and you will find the form below.

By the way: attending in person for one or more days does not preclude you from acting as a session host. Whilst we only have a limited number of workstations available at the on-site stages, please do feel free to speak to us about it and we’ll see what we can arrange.

We will let you know by 29 May 2026 whether you have been selected as a Session:Host for this year’s U:FF.
