About me

Dr. Erik Morawetz studied physics at the University of Leipzig, where he did his bachelor’s and master’s degree with a focus on biophysics. A research visit to the Einstein Institute, New York, USA, fostered his interest in cancer research and subsequently the physics of cancer. Following this path, he wrote his PhD thesis entitled “Softening of Tumor Cells in Aggressive Carcinomas” at the Peter-Debye-Institute for Soft Matter Physics, University of Leipzig. After his defense in 2022, he pivoted to pursue his curiosity for programming and is currently employed at the Leipzig University of Applied Science (HTWK Leipzig) as a research associate in the field of e-assessment.
