Call for Volunteers – Session:Hosts (digital)
Community involvement is a top priority at the University:Future Festival! Through our Call for Volunteers, we are therefore looking for motivated Session:Hosts to digitally moderate our speakers and support them during the sessions.
What we are looking for
You will support the speakers as implementation support in the smooth running of various digital formats such as inputs, trainings and workshops (more information on the different formats can be found here). As a digital session host, you will arrive in the virtual room together with the speakers 20 minutes before the session starts and discuss where they need your help. The session begins with you moderating the speakers. You can then sit back, relax and listen to the presentation. Should any problems arise, you are the first point of contact. It is important that you have familiarized yourself with our platform in advance. But don’t worry, in-depth technical know-how is not required, as we have a support team that is always available to deal with technical problems. You will receive everything you need to know about the platform and the session process from us in advance in a detailed briefing and a one-hour training session.
We are therefore looking for support for the technical support of the sessions. This is not a content-related moderation, but rather methodical support for the speakers.
Your tasks at a glance:
- Moderation of the speakers
- Recording of the session
- Be the speaker’s “third hand”:
- Support in the chat, with technical problems or similar challenges during the event.
- No in-depth technical know-how required
Effort:
Depending on your details (see below), we will plan your assignment. In addition to your support during the festival, you should expect about two hours for familiarization with the platform and the briefing.
Specific dates:
- Briefing on May 5 and 7, 2025 (The briefings are identical, you only have to attend once).
- Assignment during the festival from May 13 to 15, 2025 in the time slots of your choice.

- You will be named on the website.
- You will receive a certificate confirming your voluntary commitment to U:FF.
- To make your commitment even more visible, you can submit the certificate to HFDcert – the HFD Community Certificate.

By the way: Participation in one or more attendance days does not exclude working as a Session:Host. We only have a limited number of workstations available on site in Berlin, but please contact us and we will see what we can make possible.
We will let you know by March 31 whether you have been selected as a Session:Host for this year’s U:FF.
