Together. A digital, interactive and hybrid exhibition of international research results.
TOGETHER, Communicaton and Design for intercultural understanding is an international research project, proposed by the University of Applied Sciences for Communication and Design, funded for 3 years by the Ministry of Science Research and Art in Baden-Wuerttemberg. It started in the summer semester 2019 and lasted until september 2021. For the cooperation we were able to invite Prof. Vladimir Frelih, Academy of Arts of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek with his students. And we cooperated with Adam Guld, PhD, Habil Assistant Professor of the Department of Communication and Media Studies, University of Pécs and his students. The project was based on an innovative teaching concept for intercultural understanding, especially with the Danube region. The interdisciplinary approach of HfK+G’s two study programs Communication Design and Advertisement and Market Communication in combination with the study programs of the partner universities laid the foundation of 8 international workshops. When Corona emerged in 2020, we decided to continue the program in online workshops. In 3 online workshops with the University of Pecs we took the epoch-making challenge to investigate the living and studying situation of students in Corona times. In the last workshop with Osijek, the students tested the online collaboration with the Designthinking method, which they had conducted in previous analog workshop phases. Corona also confronted us with the question and challenge of how to publish the documentation and results of our research workshops and, above all, make it possible to experience? A design graduate of the HfK+G, Oliver Fritz, who meanwhile leads a research lab in the field of VR, brought the solution: With the help of a virtual tour we combined analog and digital representations, as in the workshops before. The method also includes the possibility of integrating interactive elements such as video sequences, audio sounds or animations.
