Dr. Vickie Harden is an Assistant Professor and Master of Social Work Program Coordinator in the Social Work Department of Middle Tennessee State University. She holds a Master’s of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee and a Ph.D. in Human Performance from MTSU. Her teaching encompasses micro, mezzo and macro-practice courses. Dr. Harden is very involved in service work, and partners with community agencies to develop internships and experience-based learning environments for students. She has over 35 years of experience in social work practice working with trauma, addiction and co-occurring mental illness. Her current research encompasses addressing issues of trauma, including connecting historical trauma to current systemic issues related to poverty and health disparities. She is dedicated to improving access to care for people affected by poverty, trauma, in particularly those residing in rural communities.
